Healthier Valentine's Day Candy Options
My inbox has been flooded with one question this past week "what candy are you purchasing for your children for Valentine's day?"
A few years back when my son with diagnosed with food allergies, there were not as many options available locally.Trying to find candy without corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup felt nearly impossible. I would love to tell you my kids don't eat any junk anymore and that all this candy I chose to create valentine bags with is very nutritious, but it's still candy with sugar in it. The reason why I chose these options for them is because they are better than the alternative. There are no corn syrups in these candies, no artificial colors or dyes, they are made with ingredients I can pronounce & are not loaded up with chemicals. These are what I chose: All Natural Panda Licorice Justin's peanut butter cups Echo caramel, the organic candy bd Little secrets (healthy version of M&Ms) Glee Gum Pops Chuao baconlixious chocolate Most of these items are allergy friendly, organic certified, non GMO, no preservatives, gluten free or vegan. I want my children to know that it's okay to treat themselves but try to make the best choices when doing so. We are surrounded by temptation & I know it's not always easy. I learned very quickly that taking all these things away would only make my children want it more, so I decided I needed to come up with a better solution. All three of them were excited to receive goody bags with treats that still taste just as good if not better then what they use to have. It was still a Happy Valetine's day in Fresh Fit Kate's house!
